Service & Scheduling

How calls work, when we're available, and what to expect on a service visit.

How do I schedule an appointment?
Three ways: (1) call 251-383-HVAC and a real person picks up; (2) book online at the schedule page — we follow up within one business hour to confirm a time; (3) text us if that's easier. We don't route calls to an offshore call center, ever — every call gets to a Baldwin County dispatcher.
Can you come the same day?
Most weekdays, yes — same-day service is available for calls received before noon. Summer afternoons and post-storm windows tighten the schedule; we route Comfort Plan members first, then medical-vulnerability calls, then everyone else. Emergency after-hours service is always available at 251-383-HVAC.
What hours are you open?
Standard scheduling runs 8am-8pm daily. After-hours emergency service is 24/7 — call the same number and you'll route to the on-call technician directly. After-hours dispatch fees are disclosed on the call before we route, never as a surprise on the invoice.
How long does a typical service visit take?
Diagnostic-only visits run 30-60 minutes. A diagnostic plus a common repair (capacitor, contactor, condensate clear) usually wraps in 60-90 minutes. Tune-ups run 60-90 minutes. Full system replacements are typically one full day — we confirm the timeline in writing before any work starts.
Do you charge a service fee just to come out?
$79 diagnostic fee for repair calls, credited toward the repair if you proceed. Estimates for system replacement are always free. Free second opinions on any repair quote you've received from another contractor — bring us the quote and we'll review it honestly.
What should I have ready when you arrive?
Helpful but not required: photo of the equipment data plate (model + serial), any service history you have, the warranty paperwork from the original install, and a clear path to the indoor air handler. If you don't have any of that, we'll find it ourselves — no problem.

Pricing & Payment

What we charge, when we charge it, and what payment methods we accept.

How much will my repair cost?
It depends on the failed component. Most residential repairs in Baldwin County land between $150 and $700 (capacitor, contactor, condensate clear, refrigerant top-off, blower motor, control board). Compressor and evaporator coil work runs higher. We diagnose first, write a clear estimate, and only proceed with your approval — no surprise charges, no upsell pressure. See /cost-guide/hvac/ for full ranges.
Do you offer financing?
Yes — financing is available on qualifying installations through HVAC lender partners. Common terms are 0% promotional rates for 12-18 months on approved credit, or fixed APR for 7-10 year terms. Repairs and maintenance are typically charged at time of service. See /financing/ for current offers.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover), ACH bank transfer, and physical check. We do not accept cash for invoices over $500 — check or card only at that point so the transaction is fully documented. Comfort Plan membership dues can be set on auto-pay.
Are estimates free?
Estimates for system replacement and major work are free, in-home, and include a Manual J load calculation. Diagnostic visits for repair work are $79, credited toward the repair if you proceed. Free second opinions on any repair or replacement quote from another contractor.
Do you charge extra on weekends or after hours?
After-hours emergency service includes a dispatch fee on top of standard repair pricing. We disclose the fee on the call before dispatching — you choose whether to proceed. Comfort Plan members receive a discounted dispatch fee. Standard weekday pricing applies during normal scheduling.
Will you do partial repairs to keep cost down?
Yes — but with full disclosure. If a system has multiple issues and you want to address only the urgent one, we'll write the estimate that way and explain what's deferred and the risk of delay. We won't quietly skip something safety-critical (refrigerant leak, electrical hazard, gas valve issue) without flagging it — those get clearly noted on the invoice even if you defer the work.

Warranty, License & Credentials

Manufacturer warranties, our workmanship coverage, and the license/insurance documentation that protects you.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. ACExperts holds Alabama HVAC license AL #16117 and carries general liability insurance through Progressive. License and insurance are state-mandated for any HVAC contractor performing residential or commercial installation work in Alabama; they're also what protects your manufacturer warranty validity. Verify any contractor's license at the State Board before allowing them to work on your equipment.
What warranty do you offer on repairs?
Standard repair coverage is 2-year parts and labor on most repairs, unless otherwise noted on the invoice. Manufacturer parts warranties may also apply if the equipment is registered and the failure is a covered fault — we register equipment for you at install, and will help you process warranty claims on covered components.
What about new system installations?
New installs include manufacturer warranty (typically 10 years on parts, 10 years on the compressor when registered) plus our workmanship warranty on the install labor. Cool Comfort Plan bi-annual maintenance keeps both warranties active by satisfying the manufacturer's documented service requirements — missing scheduled maintenance is the most common reason warranty claims get denied.
Are your technicians certified?
Every technician on staff holds EPA Section 608 certification (federal requirement for handling refrigerants) plus Alabama HVAC competency. Most also hold NATE certification (National Association of Technician Excellence) for advanced diagnostic and install competency.
Are you a factory authorized dealer for any brand?
We are not currently listed as an authorized dealer for any specific brand. We are pursuing Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer status as of 2026. Authorized-dealer status affects dealer-only rebates and certain warranty processing — it does not affect our ability to repair, install, or warranty-service any major brand.
What if something goes wrong with the install?
Call us. Workmanship issues on a recent install are covered by our labor warranty, and we'll come back to make it right. If it turns out to be a manufacturer defect rather than installation, we coordinate the warranty claim with the manufacturer on your behalf so you don't have to chase it.

Service Area & Coverage

Where we serve, drive-time considerations, and how coastal vs. inland affects equipment choice.

What areas in Baldwin County do you serve?
Every city and unincorporated area in Baldwin County: Daphne, Fairhope, Foley, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Spanish Fort, Robertsdale, Silverhill, Loxley, Bay Minette, Summerdale, Elberta, Magnolia Springs, Fort Morgan, Lillian, Stapleton, and Stockton — plus surrounding rural areas. Coastal cities (Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan, Lillian) sometimes run 30-60 minutes longer for response time due to drive distance, and the northernmost cities (Bay Minette, Stapleton, Stockton) run 60-105 minutes from our Eastern Shore routing base.
Do you serve outside Baldwin County?
Our primary service area is Baldwin County. We occasionally take calls in the Mobile metro area or eastern Mississippi for repeat customers or specialty work, but our routine response time and same-day availability commitments apply only within Baldwin County.
Why does coastal location affect HVAC equipment choice?
Salt-laden air accelerates corrosion on outdoor condenser coils, electrical contactors, and cabinet hardware. For homes within a few miles of Mobile Bay or the Gulf, standard outdoor units last 8-12 years vs 15-20 years for inland equipment. Coastal-grade outdoor units (treated coils, marine-grade fasteners, sealed control compartments) add 4-7 years back. We default-recommend coastal-grade for any home in the high-exposure zones.
Do you service vacation rental properties?
Yes — vacation rental HVAC is a meaningful share of our coastal work (Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan, Magnolia Springs). We can structure service contracts for property managers with multiple units, schedule turnover-aligned maintenance windows, and prioritize emergency response for between-renter failures. Reach out via /contact/ for fleet pricing.
Can you service manufactured / mobile homes?
Yes. Manufactured home HVAC has unique requirements (sealed combustion, smaller equipment, specific venting clearances, electrical service considerations). We service and replace both manufactured-home heat pumps and central systems. Drive-time considerations apply for very rural locations.

Comfort Plan & Maintenance

What our maintenance membership includes, who it's worth it for, and how it interacts with repairs and installs.

What's included in the Comfort Plan?
Two preventive tune-ups per year (spring AC visit + fall heating-mode visit), 15% discount on any repair, 5% discount on new system installations, priority scheduling, automatic seasonal reminders, and a written service report after every visit. The repair discount alone tends to cover the annual membership cost on systems past year 5. See /comfort-plan/ for full details.
Is Comfort Plan worth it?
For most Baldwin County homes, yes. The math works on three fronts: (1) two tune-ups per year prevent the majority of breakdowns we see; (2) the 15%-off-repairs benefit covers most one-off service calls when something does fail; (3) prioritized scheduling matters in mid-July when half the contractors in the county are booked solid. New systems under warranty also benefit — bi-annual maintenance is what manufacturers require to keep their warranty active.
Can I cancel my Comfort Plan?
Yes — anytime. We don't lock anyone in. Most members renew because the math works, but the option to leave is always available without penalty.
Does Comfort Plan cover repairs?
Comfort Plan covers two preventive maintenance visits per year and provides a 15% discount on repairs — repairs themselves are billed separately. The membership is preventive maintenance + discount benefits, not a repair-coverage warranty.
How often should HVAC be maintained in Baldwin County?
Twice a year — spring before peak cooling load, fall before heating-mode operation. Baldwin County's combination of long cooling season, salt air (coastal homes), and heat pump heating-mode dominance means both seasonal visits matter and aren't redundant. Skipping the fall visit is the single most common reason heat pumps fail at the first cold snap.

Sizing & Equipment Selection

How we right-size new equipment, and the questions homeowners ask when comparing brands or efficiency tiers.

How do you size new HVAC equipment?
Manual J load calculation — the ACCA industry-standard method. Inputs include square footage, insulation values, window orientation, ceiling height, ductwork condition, and the actual design temperatures for your zip code. Most existing residential systems in Baldwin County are oversized; a right-sized replacement is often the same tonnage or smaller, runs longer cycles, and dehumidifies far better.
Should I size up when I replace my AC?
Almost never. An oversized system in Baldwin County's humid climate cools the air quickly but doesn't run long enough to remove moisture, leaving the house clammy at the right temperature. The fix for "my house never feels comfortable" is rarely a bigger system; it's right-sizing and improving humidity control.
Heat pump vs. gas furnace — which is right for my home?
For most Baldwin County homes — heat pump. Climate Zone 2A's mild winters favor heat pumps strongly, and the federal 25C tax credit (up to $2,000) further tilts the math. Gas still pencils when natural gas is already at the meter and the home has a heavier-than-typical heating load. We run the actual comparison numbers during the in-home consultation.
What SEER rating should I choose?
14-16 SEER2 covers most cost-conscious replacements; 17-20 SEER2 is the sweet spot for homeowners who plan to stay 10+ years and want noticeably lower utility bills; 20+ SEER2 makes sense for high-runtime properties (vacation rentals, large coastal homes). Going higher than your runtime justifies wastes capital that doesn't earn back.
What brands do you install?
We install Bryant, Daikin, and Goodman as our primary new-system lines. Bryant offers premium tier; Daikin leads in inverter-driven systems and ductless; Goodman is value-tier with strong warranty terms. The choice between them comes down to budget, feature depth, and warranty preference. We're pursuing Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer status. See /brands/ for the full list of brands we service.

Indoor Air Quality

Humidity, filtration, and ventilation — the IAQ questions Baldwin County homeowners ask most often.

Why is my house humid even when the AC runs constantly?
Two main causes: (1) the AC is oversized and short-cycles instead of running long enough to remove moisture; (2) ductwork leakage in unconditioned spaces is pulling humid attic or crawlspace air into the supply. We measure both during a humidity diagnostic. The fix is often right-sizing the AC and sealing ducts, not buying a separate dehumidifier.
Do I need a whole-house dehumidifier?
Probably not if your AC is properly sized and maintained. You DO benefit from one if: tight new-construction home where AC doesn't run long enough; vacation rental that sits at higher setpoints during vacancy; chronic mold complaints despite good cooling; or indoor pools/spas/large fish tanks adding moisture continuously. Cost: $2,000-$3,500 installed.
Are UV-C lights worth installing?
Coil-mounted UV-C lights are genuinely useful in Baldwin County's humidity — they keep evaporator coils and drain pans biologically sterile, preventing the musty smell that humid climates produce. Worth $400-$800 installed for homes with chronic supply-vent odor. Marketing claims about killing airborne pathogens are overstated; airflow is too fast for meaningful kill rates on circulating air.
What MERV rating filter should I use?
MERV 8 baseline — captures pollen, mold spores, and dust mite debris. MERV 11 if you have allergies, pets, or live near agricultural land. Don't go above MERV 13 in standard 1-inch filter slots — you'll restrict airflow and damage the blower over time. Change every 60 days during cooling season (April-October).
